National Arts in Education Week: This week is National Arts in Education Week and we are so thankful to have Mr. Pablo and Ms. Robbie to bring the arts to life for our students each week.
National Dot Day: This Tuesday, September 15 is National Dot Day, inspired by Peter H. Reynolds' 2003 children's book, "The Dot", which tells the story of a teacher who encourages a doubting student to "make her mark" starting with a single dot. Wear your best DOTS to celebrate!
National IT Professionals Day: Tuesday is also National IT Professionals Day, and we don't know what we would do without Ms. Allison. She helps us troubleshoot ALL of the technology issues that arise, makes sure our students and staff stay connected, and teaches our students about computer safety. Thank you for all you do, Ms. Allison!
Constitution Day: Thursday, September 17 is Constitution Day. Our students will be completing activities and learning about our Constitution on this day!
Curriculum Night: Mark your calendars and plan to attend our very first Curriculum Night on Thursday, October 8! This will be a great night to hear from your child's teachers about the wonderful things happening in their rooms and how you can best support your child's learning. Our amazing PTO will be serving a FREE dinner to start the night. You don't want to miss this!
Online Paperwork Process: The online forms process has been extended until September 18 and we hope to have 100% of our students with completed paperwork. We've made it to 90% complete. This online system allows you to update phone numbers, addresses, and emergency contacts, and sign off on medical, photo, and technology agreements - all online. One important note: you'll need your own Parent Portal account. You can find the link to complete this process on the CCPS or HIES websites. If you need a device, internet access or some help with the process please come to the school between 8:00 and 4:00 and we will be glad to help you!
Picture Day: Picture Day is this Friday, September 18. Information was sent home in student folders and all students will take individual and class pictures. If you want to purchase the class picture, money is due prior to picture day. If you only want individual pictures, you can wait until you get the proof to decide.
Calendar Change: There is an important calendar change for HIES only! We will have an Early Release Day on Friday, December 4 to prepare for the Decoy Festival. The Early Release Day on the district calendar for Thursday, October 1 will now be a full school day for HIES students.
