Good Evening Islander families,
This is Brooke DePinto, the principal of Harkers Island Elementary School calling with some important information for the coming week. The weekly All Call is sent out to Harkers Island families every Sunday evening and the script for the call can be located on our school website and Facebook page.
This Week at HIES:
Monday, May 25th - Memorial Day Holiday (NO SCHOOL)
Wednesday, May 27th - Math EOG (3rd-5th)
Thursday, May 28th - PBIS Coin Store
Memorial Day Holiday: We will honor and remember the men and women that have sacrificed it all for our country on Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day. There will be no school for staff or students and we wish you a safe long weekend.
End-of-year Assessments: Our final EOG testing day will be Wednesday, May 27, when 3-5 students will take the Math EOG. Some students are also still completing district math assessments. Keep a look out for grade level specific information from your child's teacher. It is important that students are getting good rest, eating a healthy breakfast and at school each day as we finish the year!
Last Day of School: On Thursday, June 4 we will have a full school day starting with our Quarter 4 and Year-long Awards at 8:30. If your child will receive an award, you will get an invitation by Monday, June 1. We will follow our awards with a fun field day from 9:30-12 and we need your help. Please sign up for a 50 minute time slot if you can help that day. One of the stations will be a tie-dye station. Please send a white cotton t-shirt with your child by June 4 for the tie-dye station. T-shirts only please!
EOG Score Release: We are so proud of the hard work our students have put into their EOG testing, and know that you are anxiously awaiting the results. We have one more day of testing on Wednesday, when we will complete our Math EOG. After we complete this final day and receive scores, you will get a copy of your child's scores for all tests. This information will come home on Thursday. If your child is eligible for a retest, you will also receive a phone call with this information.
Bridge Update: The last day for the Bridge for the school year was Thursday, May 21. Please make sure your child and their teacher know their plans for after school transportation.
