National Physical Fitness and Sports Month: May is National Fitness and Sports Month and your students have been learning so much about physical fitness and sports skills in PE classes. Thank you to Ms. Paula who is instilling a love of movement and activity in our students.
Progress Reports: Quarter 4 Progress Reports will go home on Monday, May 4. This means that we are halfway through our last quarter of the year! Please take this opportunity to talk to your child about finishing the school year strong!
National School Nurse Day: Wednesday, May 6 is National School Nurse Day and we are so grateful to have the support of Nurse Bridget at our school. She is always helpful, kind, and knowledgeable about ways to keep our students safe and healthy! Thank you, Nurse Bridget!
Rising 6th Grade Events: Our 5th Grade students will be visiting DEMS on Wednesday to help them prepare for the transition to middle school. There is also a band instrument on Wednesday night at DEMS for any student who is considering joining middle school band.
PTO Meeting: Our monthly PTO meeting will be on Thursday, May 7. All parents are welcome to attend to help us plan end-of-year events.
Bathroom Concerns: We have had multiple issues of bathroom graffiti, vandalism and instances of purposeful lack of cleanliness. We will be working on our bathroom procedures to keep a closer eye on this issue and ask that you please talk with your child about keeping our spaces clean.
Check out our website or Facebook page or call the main office @ 252-728-3755 if you have any questions. We will see you back tomorrow as we Light the Way through another great week at HIES!
