This is Brooke DePinto, the principal of Harkers Island Elementary School calling with some important information for the coming week. The weekly All Call is sent out to Harkers Island families every Sunday evening and the script for the call can be located on our school website and Facebook page.
This Week at HIES:
Tuesday, April 14th -DEMS Band Concert for 5th Graders
Wednesday, April 15th - Purple Up Day!
Friday, April 16th - Steer Your Career (5th Grade)
Yearbooks: Yearbooks are on sale for $20! You must preorder your yearbook before 4/24, by sending in cash or check (made out to HIES). Forms were sent home prior to Spring Break with yearbook information.
Front Office Update: Ms. Sherri will be out from April 13-April 20, and will be unable to answer calls or messages during this time. Please call the main office for any questions or messages for staff or students.
Purple Up Day: April is the National Month of the Military Child. We will recognize the sacrifices our military children and families make by participating in Purple Up Day on Wednesday, April 15. We invite all students to wear purple on Wednesday!
Public School Volunteer Week: Public School Volunteer Week is April 20-24 and we love our volunteers! All volunteers should look for an invitation in your child's folder to our Volunteer Breakfast that will be held on Wednesday, April 22. If you don't find your invitation and have volunteered for us this year, please call or email Ms. Lindsay for more information!
NC Check-ins: Our final NC Check-ins for Grades 3-5 are coming up. While these assessments are not graded, they do help our teachers plan instruction and review for the EOGs, so please encourage your student to take their time and do their best on these assessments:
Tuesday, 4/21: Reading Check-in (3-5)
Thursday, 4/23: Science Check-in (5th only)
Tuesday, 4/28: Math Check-in (3-5)
