This is Brooke DePinto, the principal of Harkers Island Elementary School calling with some important information for the coming week. The weekly All Call is sent out to Harkers Island families every Sunday evening and the script for the call can be located on our school website and Facebook page.
Upcoming Dates to Note:
Monday, February 16th - Regular School Day (Snow Makeup Day)
Tuesday, February 17th - Reading Check-ins (Grades 3-5)
Thursday, February 19th - Science Check-in (5th Grade)
Friday, February 20th -Glow Party (5:30-7 PM)
Calendar Change: Monday, February 16 is now a regular school day instead of the teacher workday that was originally on the calendar. This is the makeup day for the Snow Day on Monday, February 2. The additional days from last week do not need to be made up since they were Remote Learning Days.
NC Check-ins: Our mid-year NC Check-ins for 3rd-5th Grades have been rescheduled for the following dates. These mid-year assessments are not graded and we only ask that your child has a good night's sleep and healthy breakfast on test days. The results will be used to guide our instruction for the second half of the year.
Tuesday, February 17: Reading (Grades 3-5)
Thursday, February 19: Science (Grade 5)
Tuesday, February 24: Math (Grades 3-5)
Glow Party: The PTO Glow Party has been rescheduled for Friday, February 20 from 5:30-7. Students, siblings, and families are invited to attend. The cost is $5 and includes pizza, drink, popcorn, and glow fun! Let us know if you plan to attend!!
Kindergarten Registration: Kindergarten registration is on Wednesday, 2/25 from 1-6. This is a floating event for all students in our area who will be 5 on or before August 31, 2026. Please share and invite any qualifying families to join us on this day.
