This is Brooke DePinto, the principal of Harkers Island Elementary School calling with some important information for the coming week. The weekly All Call is sent out to Harkers Island families every Sunday evening and the script for the call can be located on our school website and Facebook page.

Monday, February 9th - 100th Day of School
Tuesday, February 10th - 100th Day of School Celebration, SPEAK Presentation (5th Grade)
Friday, February 13th - Young Waterfowler's Day (Wear Camo)
Sunday, February 15th - National School Resource Officer Day
100 Days of School: It is hard to believe that Monday will be the 100th day of our school year! Some of our classes will be celebrating on Day 101!
NC Love the Bus Week: This week is NC Love the Bus Week and we are so very grateful to Ms. Rosie for making sure that our students make it to school and back home safely each day! Please take a moment to say thank you to Ms. Rosie this week!
Young Waterfowler's Day: Young Waterfowler's Day is Friday, February 13, in memory of the lives lost in the Down East plane crash. Please plan to wear your camo to honor this special day.
National SRO Day: Sunday, February 15 is National School Resource Officer Day! We love having Officer A as part of our school community! Thank you for all you do, Officer A!
Calendar Change: Monday, February 16 is now a regular school day instead of the teacher workday that was originally on the calendar. This is the makeup day for the Snow Day on Monday, February 2. The additional days from last week do not need to be made up since they were Remote Learning Days.
NC Check-ins: Our mid-year NC Check-ins for 3rd-5th Grades have been rescheduled for the following dates:
Tuesday, February 17: Reading (Grades 3-5)
Thursday, February 19: Science (Grade 5)
Tuesday, February 24: Math (Grades 3-5)
Glow Party: The PTO Glow Party has been rescheduled for Friday, February 20 from 5:30-7. Students, siblings, and families are invited to attend. The cost is $5 and includes pizza, drink, popcorn, and glow fun! Let us know if you plan to attend!!
