Good Evening Islander families,
This is Brooke DePinto, the principal of Harkers Island Elementary School calling with some important information for the coming week. The weekly All Call is sent out to Harkers Island families every Sunday evening and the script for the call can be located on our school website and Facebook page.
Upcoming Dates to Note:
Tuesday, January 13th - 4th Grade Symphony Field Trip
Wednesday, January 14th - mClass Testing (K-2)
Thursday, January 15th - mClass Testing (3-5)
Friday, January 16th - End of Quarter 2/Semester 1
End of Quarter/Semester: It is hard to believe, but the first half of the school year is coming to a close. The last day of Quarter 2/First Semester is January 16. Please take a moment to encourage your child to finish the first half of the year strong!
Mid-year Assessments: It is time for our mid-year assessments. There is nothing specific to do to prepare for these assessments and they will not be graded assignments. The information gained from these benchmarks will guide our teachers and staff as we prepare instruction for the remainder of the year. Please encourage your child to do their best on each of these assessments. mClass will be administered on Wednesday and Thursday, while other benchmarks will be given through class time over the next couple of weeks.
PBIS Field Trip: Our Quarter 2 positive behavior field trip is coming up! The number one field trip choice for our students was to go to Altitude Trampoline Park and we are excited to announce that we will be taking this trip on January 30. This trip will be $20 and will include 2 hours of jump time, a pair of socks, pizza and water. Information and permission slips will be coming home on Monday. Please send back all paperwork and money at the same time and remember the following criteria for Quarter 2 (October 28-January 16) must be met for students to participate in our field trip:
No OSS or Bus Suspensions
No more than 1 Office Referral
No more than 3 documented minor incidents
No more than 6 Unexcused absences and/or tardies.
