Good Evening Islander families,
This is Brooke DePinto, the principal of Harkers Island Elementary School calling with some important information for the coming week. The weekly All Call is sent out to Harkers Island families every Sunday evening and the script for the call can be located on our school website and Facebook page.
Upcoming Dates to Note:
● Monday, November 3 rd - Report Cards go home, Science Check-ins (5th)
● Tuesday, November 4th - Reading Check-ins (3rd-5th)
● Wednesday, November 5th - Math Check-ins (3rd-5th)
● Thursday, November 6th - PBIS Trip to Fort Benjamin Park, PTO Meeting @ 6
Report Cards - First quarter report cards will go home Monday. Please take a moment to review these with your child, discussing the celebrations and setting goals for Quarter 2! If you have not already scheduled a first quarter parent-teacher conference, please contact your child’s teacher to do so.
NC Check-ins - Our 3rd-5th grade students will take their first NC Check-in tests this week. There is nothing to do to prepare for this, except get a good night’s sleep, eat a nutritious breakfast, and be at school on time. This is not a graded test, but will be used for teachers to plan future instruction, so please encourage your child to do his/her best!
Quarter 1 PBIS Rewards Trip: Our first quarter reward trip is Thursday, November 6 at Fort Benjamin Park in Newport. Parent chaperones are not needed for this trip and it is free for all students who qualified based on Q1 expectations. Pizza and freeze pops will be provided at lunch Students are welcome to bring a lunch or get a school bag lunch if they would like to go with their pizza. Please make sure you have turned in all field trip paperwork!

● November 21: Gallery of Trees Opening Reception Chorus Concert
● November 26-28: Thanksgiving Holidays (NO SCHOOL)
● December 4: PTO Meeting
● December 5: Early Release for Decoy setup
● December 6-7: Decoy Festival
