See You at the Pole: See You at the Pole is an annual event on the fourth Wednesday of September (September 24) where Christian students gather at their school flagpoles before school to pray for their friends, families, schools, communities, and nation. It's a global, student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led prayer rally that began as a grassroots movement in 1990 in Burleson, Texas. This is not a school-sponsored event and is completely voluntary for those who wish to participate at 7:30 am on Wednesday, September 24.

Early Release: Our first Early Release Day will be on Wednesday, September 24 and the Bridge will be open for our 12 PM dismissal. Make sure to let your child’s teacher know how they will get home.

Miles of Smiles Dental Van: Forms for the Miles of Smiles Dental Van went home last week. The van will be at our school on Thursday, September 25 and all forms are due back on Monday, September 22 if you are interested in your child being seen at the dental van.

PBIS Store: Our students have been working hard to collect coins for following our schoolwide expectations and lots of coins have been handed out! We will have our first Positive Behavior store this Thursday, where students can redeem their coins for lots of fun items. If you have small toys, pencils, trinkets or snacks that you would like to donate to the store, please drop them by the main office.

PTO Spirit Night: We have our first PTO Spirit Night at El’s East on Friday, September 26. Take a break from cooking and support our local restaurants as they give back to the schools! A portion of their proceeds that night come right back to our PTO to support our staff and students!

Progress Reports: Progress Reports for 3rd-5th grade students will go home on Monday, 9/29.

Vision Screenings: The Lion’s Club will provide free vision screenings to all students with parent permission on October 1. Please send back the form in your child’s folder to sign up for this screening opportunity.

Check out our website or Facebook page or call the main office @ 252-728-3755 if you have any questions. We will see you on Monday as we Light the Way through another great year at HIES!
