mCLASS assessments: All students will complete mCLASS beginning of year assessments this week. There is nothing needed to prepare as this information will just allow teachers to know what your child needs to be successful this year. Your child’s teacher will share this information with you at Parent/Teacher conferences later this quarter.
Vision Screenings: The Lion’s Club will provide free vision screenings to all students with parent permission on October 1. Please send back the form in your child’s folder to sign up for this screening opportunity.
International Dot Day: Monday, September 15 is International Dot Day. This is a global event promoting creativity, courage, and collaboration, inspired by Peter H. Reynolds' children's book “The Dot”. We encourage our students to wear their dots to make their mark on Monday, September 15!
Picture Day: Picture Day will be on Friday, September 19 and forms will come home on Monday. We will have individual and class pictures on this day. Forms and money are due back by Monday, 9/15.
Illness information: We have had several students out with low grade fevers, headache, etc.. We hope that all of our sick Islanders feel better soon and remind you to wash your hands and/or use sanitizer often, practice good coughing/sneezing habits with your children, and get lots of good rest as we get back in the groove of being with our friends in classrooms all day. If you child is sick, remember that they should stay home until they are vomiting and fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medications and have improving symptoms. Please also send a note to the office within 48 hours of return to excuse illness-related absences.
Check out our website or Facebook page or call the main office @ 252-728-3755 if you have any questions. We will see you on Monday as we Light the Way through another great year at HIES!
